ALAMELU SUBRAMANIAM "BAMA"

age 86, of Munster, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015. Alamelu is survived by her children: Dr. R. Bhawani (Dr. Mridula) Prasad, Suresh (Lakshmi) Ravinutala and Uma (V. Sivaparasd) Sivaprasad; grandchildren: Sarika Cardoso, Ambika Prasad, Neerja Prasad, Siddharth Ravinutala, Aparna Morgan and Teja Sivaprasad; great grandchildren: Lydia Shanti Cardoso and Graham Ravi Cardoso; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in India; many good friends. Preceded in death by her husband T.K.V. Subramaniam and daughter Shanti.

Despite her limited formal education, Alamelu was very intelligent, adjusted well to American life while maintaining Indian and Hindu traditions and was very interested in current events; following them in three languages. Alamelu had a great interest in music, had many close friends and was affectionately known as "Bama". She was the central pillar of our family; Our lives revolved around her. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM.
