Albert S. Martinez

Albert S. Martinez, age 78 passed away on Saturday February 29, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Albert was born on April 8th, 1941 in Hondo, Texas to Eulalia (Ramos) and Antonio Martinez.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Barbara Jean (Lovrinich), three daughters, Patricia (Sergio) Lopez, Veronica (Eric) Garza, and Anna Martinez, Two sons Robert (Avarie) Hansen and Andrew (Dana) Hansen, Seventeen Grandchildren - Patricia, Kassandra, Lily, Sylvia, Paityn, Grace, Sergio, Carlos, Rogelio, Alex, Christian, Presley, Jonas, Robbie, Matthew, Luke, and Alex. Five great grandchildren- Alec, Cataleya, Dominic, Aiden, and Julian. Three sisters Jane (Ralph) Chavez, Noemi Quiroga, Tina (Alfonso) Uribe, two brothers, Joe (Charlotte) Ramirez, and Rodrigo (Debbie) Galvan, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Albert was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Longbeach, and the USS Topeka. Albert retired from Acme Steel after 30 plus years of service.

Albert was so proud of his big family and always looked forward to the wonderful holiday gatherings.

Albert was a great cook and had some of the best recipes such as his homemade salsa not to mention everything from his savory dishes to his fantastic flan, which the family always looked forward to. Albert also loved gardening and there wasn't a thing he couldn't fix, he had a solution for everything.

He will be greatly missed not only by his family, but all of his friends he made through life. Everyone who met him immediately became his friend for life. May he rest in peace for above all he loved his lord Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Visitation will be on Thursday March 5, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home located at 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, IN 46375. Mass will be said on Friday March 6, 2020, 10:00 A.M. at St. James the Less Catholic Church located at 9640 Kennedy Ave, Highland, IN 46322.
