Albert C. "Bud" Stahnke

Born at home December 31, 1925 in Blue Island, IL to Anna Griffin Stahnke & Albert C. Stahnke Sr. Graduated from St. Benedict Grammar school & Thornton High school. He built his first one tube radio in grammar school which began his lifelong love of electronics.
Albert earned his Ham radio license in 1947 and built hundreds of radios, T.V.s & computers into his late 80's. He was always fascinated by the next new technology. Joined the Navy in 1943, received medical Training at Naval hospital Corona CA, served as Pharmacist mate on USS George E. Davis and made the invasion of Okinawa Japan on Easter Sunday 1945.
Albert attended Worsham College in Chicago on the GI bill, graduated and earned his Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses. He worked in that field for 40 years and was a salesman for Hydrol Chemical CO for 12 years. Established Budd's electronics in 1952 repairing and selling TV's and all electronics. His son Robert joined him in this business for many years. Ingenious, hardworking Dad could repair anything; he designed & built four family homes.
Survived by my wife & treasure Patrice. She is my beautiful flower who blooms for me each day. Beloved children: Robert (Sharon) Stahnke, Beverly (Jerry) Conklin, Diane (Dennis) Matha, Suzette (William) McEwen, Bonita (Kenneth) Beck; grandson Dan McEwen. His nephews & nieces who he enjoyed teasing & teaching: Edward (Late Mari) Hopkinson, William (Kay) Evans, John (Debbie) Evans, Judy (Robert) Fischer, Michael (LeaAnn) Evans, Donald (Elizabeth) Kreck, Ronald (Donna) Kreck, late Larry (Peggy) Kreck, late Alan Hopkinson, Brian Hopkinson and late Kathleen (Bryan) Bijonowski; sister in law Ellen (late Harry) Yocum; Faithful Fur child Katie. Preceded in death by his three sisters: Margaret (Randy) Kreck, Dorothy (Edward) Hopkinson, Agnes Evans and brother Erwin Stahnke.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville with Pastor Mark Vance officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of service. Contributions in Albert's honor may be made to The Humane Society or Wounded Warrior Project.
