Andrew Kaytar

Age 89, of Hammond, IN passed away Monday, February 20, 2017.  He is survived by his three loving children Terry (Bill) Hashu, William (Kathy) Kaytar, Andrea (Terry) Trtan; 5 grandchildren, Andy (Lisa) Hashu, Joe (Leslie) Trtan, Mike Trtan, Pete Johnson, Suzie (Kevin) Blissmer, 4 great grandchildren, Melynda, Hailey Hashu, Chase Kinley, Elena Blissmer.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rose (nee Spear); mother, Ann Kajtar; brother, John Speajar.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM , Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main and Kennedy) with Deacon Raymond Helfren officiating. Andrew will be laid to rest directly after service at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Andrew retired from LTV Steel with 44 years of service as an Electrical Foreman.  His hobbies included flying, golfing, and model building.  He soloed in a Piper Tomahawk before a heart attack which stopped him from attaining his pilots license.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org
