Andrew J. Mata

age 28, of Hammond, IN, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Lilyana; parents, Edward and Laurie Mata; sister, Skyler; Lily's mother, Sarah; grandmother, Irma (late Louie) Mata; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Andrew is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Adele and Carl Pilipovich; grandfather, Trinidad Martinez; uncles, Michael Mata and Richard Weber; and nephew, Adam Mata.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond, Indiana with Fr. Charles Mosley officiating. Andrew will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. A private burial will take place at a later date. Friends may visit with the Family on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN (corner of Main and Kennedy) from 2:00 till 8:00 PM.

Andrew was a 2006 graduate of Gavit High School in Hammond, and was a proud Gladiator fan. He worked in the railroad industry for Electric Motors. Andrew had a passion for music. He loved to write music and play the drums. His favorite hang out with his band was Fifth Amendment. Andrew had a fierce love for his precious daughter, Lilyana. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to set up an education trust for Lilyana.
