Her beautiful smile, infectious spirit and giving heart made her special to so many people.

Anita Félix, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on February 19, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, to Modesta F. Ramos and Carlos F. Ramos. She was raised in Gary and remained deeply connected to her family and community throughout her life. Anita passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, in Crown Point, Indiana, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, laughter, and generosity.

Anita attended Horace Mann High School and later attended Sawyer College of Business, where she earned her Junior Secretary Certificate. She went on to build a successful career in the financial services industry. Anita became a Registered Sales Assistant and Licensed Broker, passing her Series 7 examination in 1997. Throughout her career she worked for Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers, before retiring from Morgan Stanley in Chicago after years of dedicated service.

Faith was an important part of Anita’s life. She came to Christ at an early age and shared her love of God through both worship and service. Over the years, she attended Crossroads in Dyer, Indiana; First Central Christian Church in Crown Point, Indiana; Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana; and City Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Anita sang at each of her churches, using her beautiful voice to worship and encourage others. She also portrayed Mother Mary in Family Christian Center’s “Passion” production for several years, a role that allowed her faith and talent to shine together.

Anita was blessed with a natural gift for singing and dancing and had a personality that could light up any room. She loved family gatherings and was often the life of the party. Her beautiful smile, infectious spirit and giving heart made her special to so many people.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time at the beach and pool, enjoying picnics with family, and tending to her garden. She had a green thumb and loved sewing, crocheting and cooking. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, musicals, science-fiction and mystery movies and had a secret passion for British television. Above all, Anita loved her family and found great joy in sharing what she had with others. During Christmas, she especially enjoyed giving to Angel children and making sure others experienced the joy of the season.

Anita’s love was expressed not only through her words, but through the countless ways she cared for the people around her. She gave freely, laughed often, loved deeply and made memories that will be treasured for generations.

Anita leaves to cherish her memory her children, Nathaniel Colón, Elena Thomas (Steven), and Valerie Norris (Zach); her grandchildren, Christian Thomas, Kora Thomas, Vivian Norris, and Vincent Norris; her siblings, Idalia Sánchez (Fredo), Lucy Visintine (David), Arlene Davis, and Charles Félix (Julia); and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos F. Ramos and Modesta F. Ramos; her siblings, Wilfredo Félix and Mary Banks; and her beloved child, Rafael Carlos Colón.

Anita will be remembered for her faith, her beautiful voice, her joyful spirit, her generous heart and the love she so freely gave to her family and friends. Her presence brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. And though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her song has ended here on earth, but the love she gave and the memories she created will continue to live on.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, IN. Friends may visit 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
