Age 89, of Munster, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Anna is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Pieszchala; sister-in-law, Gina Bambic; nephews, Milos (Tanya) Vjestica, Rudy (Erica) Bambic, and Pete Bambic; great-nieces, Stephanie Vjestica, Alexandra Vjestica, and Sophia Vjestica; great-nephews, Gage Bambic, and Adam Vjestica; Kumovi, Olga Mihajlovich (late, Nikodije), Cathy (Milorad) Jegdic, Judy Mihajlovich, and Danica Mihajlovich.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dobrivoje (Dan) Urosevich; parents, Anton Bambic and Anka (née Plazek) Bambic; siblings, Mara, Ivo, Andjelka, Mirko, and Pero; nephew, Dragan (still living, Sue) Vjestica.

Anna was born Ankica Bambic in Okrugljak, Croatia, met and married Dobrivoje Urosevich in East Chicago, before they moved to Munster, residing there for many years. Following the passing of her beloved Dan, Anna retired from her job as a supervisor at St Catherine Hospital and headed West, enjoying 2 years as nanny for a family in Southern California. Returning to Chicago, she spent 20 years as a caregiver in Highland Park, IL, wintering each year in Las Vegas, playing bridge in clubs from the North Shore to Northwest Indiana, while earning several master points. She combined her love for cruises with her skills at bridge, earning gold points at sea. A true fashionista, always coordinated head-to-toe, scarf to purse, Anna could often be found shopping in Northbrook Court, Old Orchard, and Oak Brook Center. With boundless energy and a passion for baking, she shared with friends & loved ones her delectable cookies, strudels, and the best rice in the family. She was always as generous with family as with those she saw in need.

Meeting the challenge of her Parkinson’s diagnosis head-on with strength and courage, Anna rose each morning as a fierce warrior, starting exercise at 5am, becoming active in programs at NWI Parkinson’s, from boxing, to yoga, to cardio drumming, and seminars. Their annual gala was the highlight of her year.

Anna’s Saturday night marathon card games with her sister-in-law, Gina, and friends were legendary, spanning decades, always going into the wee hours. Her favorite outings were to the casino, where she visited often, right up until the days when sudden illness took hold.

Her last thoughts were with her firstborn, Judy, her pride & joy, devoted to her mother and just as strong and independent. While Anna and Dan had hoped for a growing family, it was not to be, and now 5 little angels are waiting to meet their mom. To those blessed to be at her bedside, her final hours were extraordinary. Anna bestowed the most gracious gift, calling each loved one by name to her side, saying, “Thank you. Goodbye. Please take care of Judy.” With this comfort and assurance, she passed away peacefully. Anna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family is grateful to NWI Parkinson’s, Cardiac Rehab at Community Hospital, neighbors Eddie, Laura, and Millie, and all those whom Anna encountered in her determination to keep strong and live her most active life unto the end.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, 10:00a.m., at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 4021 Elm St., East Chicago, IN, with Rev. Milorad Jancic and V. Rev. Aleksandar Savic officiating. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, 4:00-8:00 p.m. (Pomen prayer service, 7:30 p.m.) at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN (corner of Kennedy Ave. & Main St.).
