Anna A. Varlan (nee Andrey)

age 99, of Highland, IN, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Anna is survived by her loving daughter, Gail (Dan Fisher) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Iris Varlan; precious grandchildren: Brett (Nancy) Hanson, Matt (Heather) Hanson, Daltyn (Kaelee) Varlan, Cameron Varlan, and Evrett Varlan; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Riley, and William; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, John Varlan; daughter, Pamela; son, Mark; twelve siblings; parents, John and Elizabeth Andrey; and son-in-law, Bill Hanson.

Anna was lifelong resident of the area and retired from Anderson Company after 43 years of service. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and Alter Guild. She was also a member of American Legion Post 180 and the VFW 1109. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling and dancing. She also enjoyed playing cards and dice with her sisters and playing Bingo.

A Visitation will be held from 3:00PM – 7:00PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN, with a Parastas at 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Service will then be held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 8103 Columbia Ave., Munster, IN, at 10:00 AM with Fr. Steven Koplinka officiating. Burial to follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
