Armando Vasquez , age 65

Hammond, IN

Passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at home.  He was born to Emma & Antonio Vasquez on August 15, 1951 in Loredo, TX.   Armando Vasquez leaves his devoted wife of 44 years, Rosa Vasquez; his loving children Cynthia (Orlando) Guerra, Melinda (Juventino) Romero, Armando (Megan) Vasquez Jr., Eduardo Vasquez; and Erica Vasquez.

Brothers Arturo (Denise) Vasquez, Alfredo Vasquez; and sister Alicia (Juan Jr-deceased) Casas.  He was dedicated grandfather to Orlando Jr. and Andrea Guerra, Francisco, Marianna, and Julian Perez, Alexis and Courtney Murphy, Emma and Olivia Vasquez, Arianna, Angelica, and Aiden Vasquez, Azalea, Ramiro Jr., Ava and Analeya Vasquez.

Preceded in death by his parents, Emma & Antonio Vasquez, brothers Antonio Mario & Andres "Chito" Vasquez; sisters Anna Maria Hernandez and Aurora Vasquez. Nephews Juan Casas III & Adrian Vasquez.

Armando retired from Arcelor Mittal Steel in 2013 after 44 years servicing the Motor Pool, Central Spares & #3 Steel Producing Department. Armando was a Jack of all Trades who enjoyed working on and detailing cars. He was an avid Chicago sports fan and a die hard Chicago Cub fan but his favorite pastime was being a grandfather.  He was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave. (Corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville, IN from 2:00-8:00 PM. Services will conclude at the funeral home and burial will be private at a later date.
