Aurora H. Aguilar-Ventura (nee Hernandez)

Age 75, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 8, 2019 surrounded by her children.

Aurora is survived by her children Louis (Kristi), Lydia, Laura (Wade), Joe, Lisa (Tammy), Carlos (Isabel), Monica, Jesse (Adriana), Jonathan (Lanna)

30 grandchildren Michael (Rosalva), Michelle, Sara (Javier), Tara, Zack, Aurora, Ariane (Jelon), Chassidy (Wilfredo), Bubba, Santa, Esmeralda (Michael), Rene (Helen), Anairis (Chris), Joe Jr, Richard, Candice, Justin, Sidney (Derrick), Carlos Jr, Bianca, Maxii, Everado, Angel (Kia), Yolanda (Rafeal), Eviana, Yalissa, Christian, Evalina, Lucas, Alexis and 51 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. 7 sisters Maria, Julia, Gloria, Erma, Othilia, Elva, Diana and 7 brothers Jesse, Joe, Lee, Juan, Oscar, Alex, and Manuel.

Proceeded in death by her husband, Leonardo; sons, Lorenzo & Miguel; parents, Catarino & Seferina; sister, Vita; brothers, Robert & Roy; great granddaughter, Kyra.

Aurora graduated from Evergreen Sr. High School in Seattle WA. In her adult years she attended Sawyer College, receiving a certificate in Business. She retired from Research Triangle Institute where she was a travel field interviewer.

Aurora was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Hammond. She was the founding member of The Hammond Hispanic Community Committee, she organized many youth activities and partnered with middle and high schools in Hammond.

Aurora loved to cook and be surrounded by family and friends, hosting big dinners for Holidays and every Sunday was her tradition.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at All Saints Catholic Church, 570 Sibley St., Hammond, IN with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating. Aurora will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 2:00-7:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN.

Aurora will be remembered as the most loving, strong, self-sacrificing, intelligent and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
