Barbara A. Prahovich (nee Bobich)

July 2, 1946 - February 21, 2024

Barbara A. Prahovich (nee Bobich) was born in Hammond, IN on July 2, 1946, to Ann (nee Weber) and Joseph Bobich. Barbara lived her early years in East Chicago but moved to Hammond and graduated from Morton in 1964. After a brief courtship she married the love of her life, Steve Prahovich in 1966 and were married for 57 years.

Barbara was very proud of her Croatian heritage and was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Croatian church in East Chicago, IN. She was a 50 year plus member of Croatian Fraternal Lodge #170 and Croatian Retiree Club. Barbara was a very active parent in the Indiana Harbor Tamburiztans and met so many life-long friends. Barbara worked many years at Indiana Michigan/McJunkin Valves.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Steve, her daughters: Lori (Michael) Whelan and Lisa Heglund; grandchildren: Shannon Whelan, Lauren Heglund, Megan Whelan and Carson Heglund; sisters: Patricia (Richard) Winders and Andrea (Galen) Musgrove; her nieces Stacie (Jim) Anderson and Traci (Alex) Castillo; great nephews: Tyler Musgrove, Ethan and Alec Castillo; and her grandpup Millie. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Ann Bobich and godchild Thomas Shegich.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 26, 2024, DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321, with Rev. Michael Yadron officiating.  Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers, a Bishop Noll scholarship will be set up in Barbara Prahovich's name.
