Hobart, IN – Betty Lou Elkins, a long-time resident of Hobart and Glen Park, passed away the 11 ^th of June at Symphony of Dyer.   Born August 5, 1927 in Gary, Betty worked for many years at Buy-Low Supermarket in Hobart, until retirement.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her, son, Daniel.  She was active in and a proud supporter of VFW Auxiliary in support of William and Daniel's service. She is survived by her two daughters, Wanda (Stanley) Weston of Munster, IN, and Donna (late Gerry) Whittler of Chesapeake, VA—as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister, Minnie Schmidt; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Elkins; and Margie Shock, who grew up with her like a sister. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 15 ^th from 5-7 PM. Funeral service at 6:30 PM.  Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home (corner of Main ST and  Kennedy AVE, Schererville).  Private burial.
