Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Carmen Delores Gonzalez on Saturday, May 23 rd , 2020 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. 46375. We ask that those attending wear face masks and in accordance with current restrictions; only 25 people will be allowed in at a time. Funeral Service starting promptly at 1:00pm. With final visitation of dear family and friends shortly after Carmen D. Gonzalez Homecoming.
On June 1 st , 1976 another one God`s loveliest creations was born to Arturo and Rosemary Gonzalez, Ms. Carmen D. Gonzalez. She was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana where she attended and Graduated from Gavit Senior high. She also attended Purdue University Northwest and graduated from Kaplan College where she obtained a degree for medical Coding and billing. She was known for teamwork and being a very thorough with many of the various jobs she held. That day she started for the Horseshoe Casino she found her niche, where was able to help anyone and everyone she could in her department which handled employees and sometimes famous entertainers' garments. She always wanted everyone to look their best and to make others smile throughout their day. At her job you could ask almost anyone about Carmen, and they would know who you were talking about right away with no question. She worked there nearly 21 years, even when she was off of work, she used to call in to her coworkers to help them or just to tell a joke or two. She was a very sociable person, she loved to go dancing, karaoke, concerts, camping, restaurant hopping, and Seafood boils where she made her Fiancé Billy R. Thomas cook her favorite food King Crab. She loved all her nieces and nephews, Karina Olivas, Jovanni Gonzalez (child of Karina) Noel Gonzalez, Xavier Valdez and Anthony Gonzalez. On regular basis she would get to know their interests and just to remind them that they were always loved. She is and always be known as a dedicated mother of Amelia R. Thomas, where her and Billy often traveled to all her cheerleading events. She was also a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Hammond IN. Carmen was also a dedicated mother to the children of Billy Thomas also named are Billy Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Elexus Thomas, Shayne Thomas, and Lindsay Thomas, as you see Carmen was no stranger to sharing her love. On December 18 th , 2018 Carmen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Two days later she started her fight and went to weekly treatments, two surgeries, and fought off a major infection. For over 16 months everything was going as planned and things were great. Then suddenly complications with failing chemotherapy arises as in little of three weeks, with sudden spread of cancer on her organs and abdomen. She left us to be with our creator on May 13 th , 2020. Leaving behind her loving parents Arturo and Rosemary Gonzalez, Grandmother Mrs. Delores Velasco, loving sister Christina Gonzalez, brother and Sister in law Anthony and Monica Gonzalez, Also her beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She is and will always be a loving mother to Amelia Thomas and a devoted fiancé to Billy Thomas.
