Catherine "Erin" Castor Gunty

Catherine Castor Gunty, age 66 of Munster, IN, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 32 years, Stephen J. Gunty; beloved children, Miles C. (Jane) Gunty and Sydney J. (Christian) Peña; precious grandchildren, Eden V. Peña and Ezra J. Peña; siblings: Dr. Conrado (Ester Mangahas) Castor, Eduardo (Teresita Santos) Castor, Leandro (late, Carlota Mangay and late, Adoracion De Los Reyes), Marc (Teresita Amoyo) Castor, Johnny Castor, Christina Castor, Aurea (Dan) Duncan, and Jacob Castor, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Jacobo Sr. and Abundia Castor; and brother, Sonny (still living, Cynthia Cadiao) Castor.

Catherine graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy. Shortly after, she embarked on a new chapter in the United States, where she devoted her career to helping others heal and thrive, culminating with the establishment of the physical therapy practice at the Orthopaedic Institute of Munster, IN.

Along with traveling and her professional achievements, Catherine's greatest joy was her family. As a stay-at-home mom, she devoted herself to raising her two children, nurturing them with love, encouragement, humor and a spirit of adventure. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. Catherine's family will hold a service at 5:30 PM where they will share words of remembrance, celebrating her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on everyone she met. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, directly at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN 46311 with Fr. Charles Niblick officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
