Celeste A. Childers

age 85, of Schererville, IN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Celeste is survived by her loving daughters: Diane Wagoner and Cathleen Gwyn; loving sons: Edward Childers and Thomas Childers; grandchildren: Troy Childers, Jennifer Wagoner-McKinney, Shawn Childers, Shane Wagoner, Erika McAfee, Theo Childers, Tommy Childers, Dustin Childers, Elizabeth Napier, and Emilee Gwyn; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Aaralyn, Kira, Liam, Chloe, Dexter, Payton, and Saxon; brothers: Herman Gensel, Joseph Gensel, Vincent (Judy) Berg; and sisters: Maryann Mehan and Dorothy Cotner. Preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband Donald Childers; brothers: Harry Gensel, Jr., Tom Gensel, and Robert Gensel.

Celeste was a member of Southside Christian Church for many years. Her compassion, devotion and love for the Lord was evident in all aspects of her life. She was an avid reader and cherished her daily devotions. Celeste loved her family so very dearly.  She was a truly phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a very loving and strong Christian woman.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 3:00 PM – 6:00PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, IN. A service commemorating Celeste's life will be held at 6:00 PM, with Kevin Groben officiating. Services conclude at the funeral home.
