Hernandez

Chris "Pops" Hernandez
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Chris "Pops" Hernandez, the beloved patriarch of our family. Pops was a man of unwavering strength, quiet wisdom, and boundless love. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, always reminding us, no matter the circumstance, that "Everything is Beautiful."
Pops lived a life of service, dedication, and heart. He proudly served his country as an Army veteran and later devoted 41 years of hard work to LTV Steel. His commitment to his community was just as strong, he spent 26 years coaching Indiana Harbor Little League, shaping not only players but generations of young people with his guidance and encouragement. He was the proud owner of CJ's Lag Inn, a place where laughter, stories, and memories were made.
Chris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace Hernandez; parents Crecencio and Senovia Hernandez; his siblings Raul, Gloria, and Nina; his cherished in-laws, Jose and Maria Guillen. Their memories live on in the stories he shared and the love he carried.
He is survived by a large family and many friends who will continue to honor his legacy. This includes his loving daughters, Lisa K. (Javier), Denise, and Reneé V. (Miguel); his beloved partner, Vicki; his grandchildren, Christopher (Maricela), Adam (Samantha), Kristina (Raymond), Andre, Bryanna (Brandon), Michael, and Sela (Justin); his great-grandchildren, Celeste, Abigail, Phayth, AJ, Isaac, Isabella, Ace, Aylah Grace, Chase, and Caden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pops was the heart of our family, a steady presence, a source of comfort, and a man whose words and actions taught us the true meaning of resilience and grace. His favorite saying, "Everything is Beautiful," will forever echo in our hearts as a reminder to find light even in the darkest moments.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
