age 32, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. Christina is survived by her mother Joanne (Jimmy) Wright; father Richard Bonhama; son Austin Mixon; siblings: Brittany and Brian Bonhama; grandparents Jeraldine and Ronald Scheive; aunts and uncles: Marie (Don) Wilson, Henry (Mary Jo) Scheive, Roy Scheive and Deanna Bonhama; partner John Hudson and his children: Kayla Hudson, John Hudson Jr.; former husband James Childress and his children: Alyssa Childress, Savannah Childress and Tyler Childress; many cousins and extended family. Preceded in death by her grandparents Marlene and Luicio Bonhama; uncle David Bonhama.
Christina was a woman who cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her best friend, her confidant, her Mom. When it came to family Christina valued tradition. Thanksgiving was hers; Christina enjoyed the ritual, the meaning and the connection to her loved ones that came with it. Christina was blessed with a heart of endless empathy and she shared that blessing with the world by helping others, serving them and sometimes just listening to their stories of life.
Christina was most recently employed as a Medical Receptionist for the Central Orthopedic Group in Farmingdale, NY. Prior to that Christina worked as a Nursing Assistant at Chesterton Manor Nursing Home and was also a Purchasing Assistant for Sugar Steel in Chicago Heights, IL.
As a girl Christina began her lifelong, and well-known love, of John Travolta. Animals held a special place in Christina's heart and over the years she brought home countless stray cats and dogs to give them a loving, safe home. She also loved to read and mystery novels were her absolute favorite. She was an avid Bears fan, loved tattoos and could always find her peace lying on a beach, a child of the sun, just listening to the waves as they lapped the shoreline. The world is a dimmer place without the bright light of our daughter, our friend, our "Cupid", Chrisitina.
Friends may gather to celebrate Christina's life on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home 7109 Calumet Ave Hammond, IN. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 PM with Fr. Stanley Dominik officiating with cremation at Solan Pruzin to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be appreciated.
