Corlis J. Girman (nee Thomas)

age 88, of Highland, formerly of Robertsdale, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She is survived by her loving children; son, Scott (Carrie) Girman of Indianapolis; daughter, Heidi Girman of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Hannah (fiancé, Brendan Male) and Maria Girman; sister, Meredith (late Tom) Gilman of Florida; nieces and cousins; brother in laws, James (Eleanor) of St. John and Jack (Diane) Girman of Highland. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene "Gene" Girman; parents, Hyde and Greta Thomas. Her family would like to thank caregivers, Patty, Barb, Sylvia, and others who assisted with Corlis.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main and Kennedy Ave.) with Pastor Dick Judson officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until time of service. A private burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery next to her beloved husband at a later date.

Corlis was a proud graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, class of 1946. She enjoyed her reunion gatherings and was an active member of the reunion committee. Corlis was a member of Beta Gama Upsilon Service Society and League of Women Voters. She enjoyed dancing, being a seamstress, and was an accomplished painter. She traveled to over 50 countries with her husband Gene. She had a lifelong love of Lake Michigan and the Dunes, where she had a cottage. Corlis was a loving mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Calumet Area, hospicecalumet.org, would be appreciated.
