Daniel "Dan" S. Taraszka

Daniel S. Taraszka, age 90, of Munster and formerly of the "East Side" passed peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Dan is survived by his beloved children Kim ( late, Anthony) Waznonis, Janice (Randy) Ryba, and Gregory (Andrea) Taraszka; Grandchildren Anthony (Annette), Danielle (Duane), Keith, Rachel, and Danny; 6 precious great grandchildren, as well as his sister Dolores (late, Ed) Ochab. Preceded in death by his dear wife, Elizabeth.

Dan deeply cared about his family, his Catholic faith, and the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He never missed watching a single game on T.V. over the last fourteen years of his life. He had retired from working at U.S. Steel South Works after nearly thirty years of dedicated service. Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he always looked forward to visits from his grandkids and great-grandchildren, where he greeted them with a big hug and kiss. The family gives a special thank you to the devoted caregiver who assisted Dan.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 13, 2023, directly at St. Thomas More, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. with Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating. Dan will lie in repose at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of the Calumet Area would be appreciated.
