Darryl J. Kwasny
age 88, of Schererville, IN, longtime resident of Highland, IN and Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. He is survived by his children: Dave (Pam) Kwasny, Pamela (late, William) Ladwig, Kathy (Ron) Easterling, Thomas Kwasny, and Carolyn (fiancé Randy Lichnerowicz) Vicino; precious grandchildren: Jessica Zukauskas, Laurren (Justin) Comastri, Molly Kwasny, Ethan Kwasny, and Evan Kwasny; great-grandson, Cole Putzell, as well as one great-granddaughter on the way; brother, John (Pat) Kwasny; and mother of his five children Marjorie Kwasny. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Kwasny; and siblings, Roland (Evelyn) Kwasny and Bunny (Jack) Neu.
Darryl graduated from T.F. North High School and worked as a bank teller in his youth. He was fascinated with electricity and electronics and became a journeyman electrician, working in the trade for over 30 years. But in reality, he was a jack-of-all-trades who stayed active, honing his skills, could fix anything and always knew how to lend a helping hand.
He enjoyed country music and gadgets — especially his drone, which he flew with child-like joy, as well as talking to new acquaintances on his radios, which he operated under an advanced-class ham radio license. Darryl was a Computer hobbyist from the beginning of personal computing, starting with a Commodore 64. In addition, he enjoyed photography, making his family the subject of countless photographic memories. And Darryl's interest in lenses and mirrors didn't end with cameras, he was also an amateur astronomer, using his telescopes to track stars and gaze into the heavens.
He was a loyal White Sox fan, an avid boater and fisherman, and a man who took great pride in his country—American flags could be found in every corner of his world. Darryl achieved the level of 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, followed by membership in the Shrine (Orak Temple) for many years. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
