Daryle Tunis

age 74, of Hammond, IN, was called home by the Lord, Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Daryle is survived by his children, Keith Tunis, Michael Tunis, and Abigail Tunis; cousin, Lisa Tunis; along with many close friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Vernon Tunis and his mother, Marjorie Tunis (nee Wilson).

Daryle was deeply involved in his community and took great pride in his political beliefs and civic involvement. He was active in the Hammond Republican Party as a precinct committeeman and ran for City Council in 2008. Daryle was often seen attending Republican meetings in Munster and Highland, as well as candidate events and fundraisers, where he enjoyed being involved and connecting with others who shared his civic interests.

He was also a frequent visitor to Kolas Christian Bookstore in Highland, where he enjoyed spending time among books, faith, and conversation. His love of faith and his strong convictions were an important part of who Daryle was, and he held firmly to his belief in God.

While Daryle’s time with his children was limited by circumstances in his life, he cared for them in the ways he knew how. He worked to provide what he could and hoped to give them a foundation built upon good character, strong morals, and faith in God. His hopes for their futures and the lessons he wished to impart will remain a lasting part of the lives they carry forward.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2026, at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a service at 7:00 PM, officiated by Deacon Dedelow. Services conclude at the Funeral Home.
