Debra Marie Parker

Debra M. Parker, age 71, of Merrillville, formerly of the Hammond-Lansing area, was called by the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Debra is survived by her loving son, Daniel (Stephanie) Parker; precious granddaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Dave (Louise) Szura; nephew, David Szura; nieces, Amanda (Michael) Rheinheimer, and Jennifer Szura. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruno E. Szura and Emily P. Szura (nee Wilk); brother, Jim Szura.

Debra was a proud graduate of Clark High School, Class of 1972. She built a career as a real estate agent and later found great fulfillment working alongside her son in renovating and restoring homes, taking pride in bringing new life and beauty into each project.

A true animal lover, Debra had a special place in her heart for all creatures, especially the feral cats in her neighborhood, whom she faithfully cared for by providing food and shelter. She also adored her beloved doxens—Ringo, Snoodles, Thumper, Snickers, and Peanuts—who brought her endless joy and companionship.

Debra will be missed by her family and friends.

We would like to thank Brickyard Healthcare Nursing Facility in Merrillville, IN, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care.

We would also like to thank Denise, Marybeth, Darlene, Kevin, Shelly, and Mary for your love and compassion to Debbie.

Family and friends are welcome to join us for a Graveside Service on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Luncheon to follow.
