DOMINGA DIAZ nee Resendez

age 96, of Dyer, formerly of East Chicago, passed away in June 4, 2016 surrounded by her loving children. Dominga was preceeded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Benito Diaz Sr. She is survived by her children: Maricela (Daniel) Gil, Maria (Guillermo) Quiroz, Benito (Irma) Diaz Jr. and Luis Diaz; grandchildren: Mayra (Edgar) Moreno, Maribel Fuentes, Anabel (Efrain) Aguilar, Lorena (Corey Cruz) Diaz, Benito (Lea) Diaz III, Sonia Diaz and Kristen Diaz; great grandchildren: Abriana, Lorenzo, Analisa, Jeremiah, Maritza, Julia, Kathryn, Benito IV, Rafael &Lillian; step-grandchildren: Mary (Gus) Gil-Guerrero, Cynthia (John) Miranda, Daniel (Aziza) Gil & Richard (Natalie) Gil.

Dominga was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed feeding her dear family. She was a hard working woman and a wonderful neighbor and friend. She loved praying the Rosary. True Christians Dominga and Benito, from their meager beginnings, instilled in their children love, familial responsibility and a responsibility to their community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Mary 802 W. 144th St. East Chicago with Fr. Frank Torres officiating. Dominga will lie in repose at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service and will be laid to rest directly after mass at St. John Cemetery Hammond.
