DONALD GENE STARKEY

age 83, of Hessville, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016. Don is survived by his children: Donald (Judy) Starkey Jr., Thomas (Annabelle) Starkey, Margie (Mark) Ramien, Mike (Sue) Starkey, Shirley Starkey, Cathy (Rob) Shrifter and Dan (Amy) Starkey; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Clarence "Jr" (Pat) Starkey; sister Doris Reed; many other extended family members. Preceded in death by his wife Jane Ann Starkey and 14 siblings.

Don was a loving father and grandfather who had a wonderful sense of humor. He coached girls' softball for over 40 years and had a true passion for coaching. Don enjoyed serving and giving back to his community. He will be dearly missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday August 31, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Mary Catholic Church 525 N Broad St. Griffith with Fr. Theodore Mens officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Schererville. In lieu of flowers donations in Don's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
