On Monday, July 16, 2018, Donna Kay Lopez (nee Newgent) of St. John, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born October 7, 1960 in Huntland, TN.

She will forever be loved and missed by her husband and best friend of 40 years, Pete; daughter, Stefanie of Crown Point; mother, June Sherman of Hammond; sisters: Shirley (Anthony) Orme of Dayton, OH, Deborah (William) Hayden of South Bend, IN, Patricia Newgent of Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Dennis Newgent of TN. Donna was a proud aunt and will be missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by her daughter, Kristy June Lopez;  "granddog" Bella Boosh; father, L.B. Newgent; mother-in-law, Lionor Lopez; father-in-law, Bonifacio Lopez.

Donna was formerly employed with LARC, a non-profit organization serving people with developmental disabilities. She loved taking care of others and giving to those in need.

She is remembered as a fun, sweet and loving person.

Donna enjoyed music, the beach, playing games and most of all, spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be private.
