Dorothy Makarewich (nee Lucito)

Age 91, of Hammond, IN formerly of Calumet, City, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Michael (Diane), Jonathan, RoseAnn White; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rachael (Alec), Christine (Brian), Steven (Aleisha), Sarah; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Liam and Madilyn; brother, Anthony (Patricia); and numerous nieces and nephews.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her dear husband, Peter; parents, Joseph and Rose Lucito; stepmother, Concettina; brothers, Lawrence and Joseph; son, Anthony; and grandson, Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, 10:00 AM Directly at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 7113 Columbia Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev. Richard Orlinski officiating. Dorothy will lie in state at church from 9:30 AM until time of service and be laid to rest at St John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.   A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375(Corner of Main St. and Kennedy Ave.) from 3:00 until 8:00 PM.

Dorothy worked many years at Queen Anne Candy Co. in Hammond. She was a stay at home mom devoted to her four children and managing a household. Her deep faith and hope in God carried her though to the end.
