Duane "Dewey" J. Wenzel

age 80, of Schererville, IN formerly of Lansing, IL passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Duane is survived by his sons: Nick (Vicky), Mike (Marilyn), Otto (Debbie) and Matt; daughter Traci (Jim) Ciarelli; 13 grandchildren, Erik, Ryan, Grace, Katie, Julia, Ashley, Lauren, Sara, Tim, Luke, Peter, Sam, and Teddy; sister, Janell (late Harry) O'Barski; sister in law, Mary Lou (late Mac) MacConnell; brother in law, John Davis; many cousins, nephews, and nieces.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie; and sister in law, Patricia (still living, Ignatius) Ayala.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN 46321 with Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating. Duane will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Cremation to follow at Solan Pruzin Crematory. Friends may call on the family on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory , 14 Kennedy Ave., (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville, IN 46375. Prayer service at 2:30 PM.

Dewey worked for Inland Steel for 31 years. He was a former trustee for the Village of Lansing.  He was an avid fisherman, who retired in Minnesota and maintained a lake home for many years.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation (PCD) 10137 Portland Ave South Minneapolis, MN 55420.
