Edwin Szalony

Edwin Szalony, age 65, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Edwin is survived by his loving mother, Alice J. Szalony (Surowiec); brother, James A. Szalony; and aunt, Patricia (Fred) Long. He is also survived by many dear cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin J. Szalony Sr.

Edwin was a proud graduate of Gavit High School, Hammond, IN, Class of 1979. He went on to attend the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in business. Edwin was a man of strong faith and attended St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Catholic Church, Cedar Lake, IN formerly in East Chicago, IN.

Edwin had a passion for sports and was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed reading and was an avid movie enthusiast, always appreciating a good story both on the page and on screen.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with 4:00 PM prayer service officiated by Fr. John Kowalczyk, at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Services conclude at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edwin’s honor to the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Foundation.

Edwin will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
