Eleanor H. Johnson (nee Heresz)
age 86, passed away on July 12, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She valued her family above all else. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Karen(Glenn) Brennan of Schererville; granddaughter, Allison Pierzchalski, Tara(Lee) Maniatis, Rick(Ashley)Brennan; sister, Lorraine (Late Herbert) Treen; brother, John(Jean) Heresz, Andrew Heresz; nieces, Mary (Lee Koznicki) Dennis, Sonya(Dairrell)Ham, Cheryl(David)Smyth; nephews, Herb(Cathy)Treen, John(Marna)Heresz; Furry babies Tiny and Lorelai. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents John and Elizabeth Heresz.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville, IN 46375 with Pastor Mark Prestriedge officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 2:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Services will conclude at the funeral home, and a private burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
Eleanor was born in East Chicago, IN. She graduated from Hammond High School in 1947. She worked at Goldblatts and later went to work at Inland Steel. She retired from there with over 34 years of service. Her passion after retirement was her granddaughter, Allison. As a member of Living Springs Community Church, she served as a greeter, and was involved for many years in "Coffee Break". Everyone who knows her loved her baking, organization, and how she could get things done. Even at the end, she was still balancing her checkbook to the penny. She was a dear friend to many. "The keys to heaven were in her hand." She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
