Elizabeth Lukacek

Age 86, of Schererville, formerly of East Chicago, IN, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Elizabeth is survived by her loving sister, Dorothy (late Frank) Mravinac; nieces and nephews, Frank (Patricia) Mravinac, Michele Schmanke, Mark (Tammy) Lukacek, Bruce Pieszchala, Timothy Lukacek, Kimberly Pieszchala, Mary Lukacek, Brian (Cheryl) Pieszchala, Karyn (Michael) Condes; also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends. Special thanks to care givers Kimmy and Stephanie. Elizabeth is preceded in death by parents, John and Anna Lukacek; brother, John (Lucille) Lukacek; sister, Anna Mae (Walter) Pieszchala; nephews, Mark Schmanke, Buddy Lukacek, Christopher Lukacek; niece, Kory Pieszchala.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:30 am Directly at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1 W. Wilhelm St., Schererville, IN with Fr. Gregory Bim-Merle officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest privately at a later date.  Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main St. and Kennedy Ave.) from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Elizabeth worked for the city of East Chicago for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 States and many Foreign Countries. Elizabeth was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #170 and First Catholic Slovak Ladies Branch 409. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing.
