Eric Lewis Hayes

Age 49, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024.

Formerly a resident of Schererville and most recently a resident of Weare, N.H. Eric is survived by his mother, Monica Hayes Drzewiecki (nee Karwatka) of Schererville; children Brandon and Michelle Hayes of Las Cruces, N.M.; brother James Drzewiecki (Meghan); nieces, Sophie and Sarah Drzewiecki of Rock Hill, S.C.; and dear friend Amy Witkowski of Roselawn.

He is preceded in death by his fathers, Roy Hayes and Edmund Drzewiecki; grandmothers Lucille Hayes and Sophie Karwatka; and great-grandmother Martha Lewis.

Eric was a 10-year veteran of the Air Force, an avid NASCAR and Chicago White Sox enthusiast, and a graduate of Lake Central High School.

He most recently served as an Operator at the New Boston Space Force Station in New Boston, N.H.

Eric was a gifted story teller who could effortlessly entertain with his sense of humor.  He loved fast cars, colder weather, Chicago pizza, and all things Star Wars.  He was quick to quote his favorite movies and never went anywhere without a playlist of his favorite music.

Above all, he was devoted to his family and was greatly loved by family and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025 directly at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1 W Wilhelm St., Schererville, IN with Rev. Martin J. Dobrzynski officiating. Interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
