Eugene Barksdale

age 74, of Hammond, formerly Chicago, IL, was called by the Lord on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Willie Mae Barksdale; children: Sidney (Melissa) Barksdale, Carolyn (Vernon) Foster, Patricia (Greg) Valadez, Shanta (Marcus Backstrom) Barksdale; precious grandchildren, Melania, Kemesha, Halee, Von, Cloee, Marques, Damon, Raymond, Raylene, Raina, Renaldo, Regina, Shamya, Shamar, Marshawn; great-grandchildren, Marlee, Max, Leah, Marques, Nezy-ah; and two sisters: Yvonne (Eddie) Kemp and Gail Barksdale. Preceded in death by his parents, Arizona Barksdale and Charles Barksdale Sr.; brothers, Charles Barksdale Jr., Melvin Barksdale, Ricardo Smith, and Ernie Barksdale.

Eugene was a Navy veteran and served his country from 1964 to 1968. He worked for the city of Chicago with the streets and sanitation department. He also worked for the United States Post Office and Johnson and Johnson. Eugene loved to laugh and spend time boats.

A Graveside Service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Those attending service are required to wear masks.
