Everett Lynnton Galusha ("Red"), 91, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, June 5 th . Red is survived by his sons, David (Laura) Galusha and Bruce (Carolyn "Sue") Galusha, step-daughters, Julianne (John) Akai, Janet (Jim) Fisch, step-son, Mitchell (Kim) Sivertson, brother-in-law, Ramon (Barb) Saunders, and sister-in-law, Patricia Todd (nee Ashton). Red is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Flora Galusha, wife Marion (nee Norden), wife Mary Ann (nee Ashton), wife Linda Lou (nee Saunders), and son, Keith. Red leaves behind four grandchildren: Lisa, Michael, Anthony and Ellen; four great grandchildren: Dylan, Alexi, Issiah, and Gage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Red was born in Chicago and moved to Kansas to live on a farm. After his family moved back to Chicago, Red grew up in the shadow of Comiskey Park where he became a White Sox fan – but eventually he grew to become an avid baseball fan. As a teenager, he worked as a dishwasher at the Salvation Army Camp in Wisconsin for many summers where he made lifelong friends. Red proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War driving trucks carrying bombs. As a civilian at home, he drove a truck for more than 35 years and was promoted to dispatcher for 5 years before he retired in 1995; and continued to run a small painting business into his retirement. Red was a fun, happy-go-lucky guy who always made people laugh. He loved his dogs, enjoyed the theater, listening to country music, loved watching Hallmark movies, enjoyed Mexican food and margaritas, loved to tinker in the yard and garage, and enjoyed hanging out with his family, friends and neighbors. He truly had a heart of gold and we will miss him dearly. There will be a memorial service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Chapel in Evergreen Park, IL on August 6 th with a private graveside internment.
