Francisco Aguilar Sr., 72, passed away Monday January 10 th , 2022. He was born in East Chicago, IN on July 1 st , 1949. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria (Reyes) Aguilar, his daughters, Melissa Gloria Aguilar, Elizabeth (Thomas) Lopez, his sons, Francisco Aguilar Jr. and Michael Trinidad Aguilar, his granddaughters, Elysia Martinez and Olivia Goehrig, and many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ernestina Hernandez and father, Trinidad Hernandez, his grandparents Ray Aguilar and Petra (Lopez) Aguilar.
Francisco was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Francisco graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1999 from Inland Steel. He worked at Harrah's Casino for 10 years as a slot technician.
He loved coaching Little League baseball in East Chicago/Harbor, IN and also enjoyed coaching basketball at St. Stanislaus school in East Chicago, IN. He filled the void for so many of the kids he coached, who may have not gotten that at home. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, and loved watching his Cubbie and Bears games. He was so happy when they won the World Series in 2016. He was an avid photographer and created many memories for family and friends. He loved to make his family laugh and will be missed greatly.
At Francisco and his family's request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Instead, he asked that family and loved one's honor him by expressing love to all your loved ones, each and every day. Go Cubs!
