Franklin L Champion, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Friday April, 17th, 2026 at the age of 55. He was born August 4, 1970, in Hammond, IN to the late Mary C. Champion and late William G Champion Sr.

He was the devoted husband of 30 years to the love of his life, Mary Jean Champion. He is survived by his siblings, William G Champion Jr (Dana Gildersleeve) and Amanda (Lawrence) Adams, nieces Kayleigh (Nick Salander) Champion, Courtney Adams, Heather (Benjamin) Chinn, Derek Eberle, Cassandra (David) Wittcamp, Kendra (Milo) Bradshaw, Rachel, Miranda and Torie Davis, and Uncle Michael Nolan, great nephews and nieces, numerous cousins, extended family, close friends and coworkers. Preceded in death by his son Jeremy Champion, grandparents Catherine and William Buck, Lawrence Nolan and Ruth and Franklin Champion and Godparents George and Kathleen Nolan Sr and Uncle James Nolan.

He had a love for family, friends, grilling and keeping up the garden. Loved playing video games and either watching NASCAR on TV or going to races.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave, HAMMOND, IN. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church, 1 E. Wilhelm St, Schererville, IN on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Martin Dobrzynski officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
