Franklin Jarrell Jones

age 79, of Hammond, IN passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019. Franklin is survived by his loving children; Deborah Jones, Betty (Jack) Woychowski, Brenda Jones, Trisha (fiancé Mike Rosenwinkel) Jones, and father role to Lynda Jones. Grandchildren; Jessica Stone, Katrina (Brad) Stallings, Krystina Patricio, Michael Patricio, Julia Minton, Kelly Minton, Brandon Patricio, Jennifer Jones, Annabel Woychowski, Kaylee Bean, and Allison Bean; Great Grandchildren; Anya Stone, Ayana Dandridge, and Jasmine Dandridge. He was preceded by his second wife, Beulah Halfacre and survived by the mother of his children, Delores Jones. He had 12 siblings; survived by 4 siblings—Darrell Jones (twin brother), Sue Parsons, Jean Sheets, and Ruth Harvey. He was preceded in death by his 8 other siblings—Richard Jones, Emeline Rollins, Bernice Nickell, Glen Jones, Imogene Jones, Betty Jo Jones, Garry Jones, and Ulen Good.

Franklin was born and raised in Sissonville, West Virginia. He attended a trade school in Tennessee for Engineering. He was married in 1964 and moved to Indiana shortly after to work and start a family. After having his four children, he divorced in 1979 and remarried in 1986.

He proudly worked at Vic Kirsch Construction for 15 years as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic until they went out of business.  He then joined the Local 150 Engineering Union working various jobs until he retired.

Franklin was known for his humor (a jokester with a poker face), a good heart, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending lots of time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge as well as the Masons for many years. He had a passion for bingo and enjoyed collecting old things. Prior to his illness, he was a regular at Hessville Restaurant to eat and socialize with staff and customers that had become friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 12:00PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN with Pastor David Adams officiating. Burial at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service. Solanpruzinfuneralhome.com
