Gary A. Sweeney

age 61, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Sweeney; daughters, Megan (Ed) Gildersleeve and Kaitlyn Sweeney (Ian Barrett); mother, Faye Sprouls; precious grandchildren, Abigail and Jackson Gildersleeve; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Mack Sweeney; brother, Michael Sweeney; sister, Kimberly Wagers; and faithful friends, Pepper and Beez.

Gary was a man whose wit and humor brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. With a heart overflowing with care, he dedicated himself to making people laugh, especially his beloved girls.

Gary's generosity knew no bounds, and his kind soul touched the lives of many. As an incredible grandfather, he cherished and created beautiful memories with his grandchildren that will be treasured forever.

He had a knack for organization, and one of his passions was indulging in the world of fantasy sports. With enthusiasm and skill, he immersed himself in the games he loved, bringing camaraderie and friendly competition to those around him.

Gary's funny and caring nature will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the cherished memories he leaves behind as well as the smiles he brought to the faces of those he loved.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A service celebrating Gary's life will be held at 1:30 PM. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crown Point, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association or Wounded Warriors.
