Gavino Castellanos

age 85, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Gavino is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Hedy; beloved children: Tamara L., Roxanne, Wendy, and Jeffrey; precious grandchildren; numerous cousins, extended family; and best friend and uncle, Pablo Gonzales. Preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Basilia Castellanos; siblings; and aunts and uncles.

Gavino was one of the founding members of Jesse's Health Club in East Chicago. He was incredibly talented in Martial Arts, most notably, Hapkido.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. A Service Celebrating Gavino's Life will be held at 6:00 PM with Deacon Rob Litavecz officiating. Services conclude at the funeral home.
