Genevieve L. Burton (nee Wise) Age 98, of Portage, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Portage.

Genevieve was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a friend to many. She was a devoted homemaker who had a true passion and talent for quilting and crocheting. In her earlier years, she especially enjoyed visiting family in West Virginia and spending time with friends at the Lake Station Senior Center, where she loved playing bingo and sharing food, laughter, and conversation.

Genevieve is survived by her loving children, Roberta Lynn Saul and Robert (Barbara) Burton; daughter in law, Sandra Burton; precious grandchildren, Michelle (Dewayne) Fontenot, Michael (Jenny) Burton, Brenda Akins, Ryan (Daniele) Burton, Rev. Jeffrey Burton, Lisa Burton, and Chad (Nicole) Burton; 14 cherished great-grandchildren; and her beloved brother, Dale (Barbara) Wise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Calvin Wise and Edna Mae Wise (nee Taylor); devoted husband, Corbett Sherald Burton Sr; loving sons, Corbett Burton Jr and Charles E. Burton; son, David Burton; precious granddaughter, Wendy Burns; and siblings, Chloris (James) Allsion, Barbara Oliver, and Sue (Harry) Wycuff.

Genevieve will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the kindness she showed to those around her throughout her long and meaningful life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
