George Strogilos

age 87, of Schererville, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025.  George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Strogilos (nee Frangos); children, Maria (Nikolaos) Pyrros, Angie (Pete) Boulas and Stavros (Angela) Strogilos; precious grandchildren, Ana (Peter) Angelos; Angeliki, Melina, Elizabeth, Chrisovalandou, Georgia and Stelios; great-granddaughter, Anastasia; sisters, Maria Papamihalakis and Despina Georgiafendis; many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. George is preceded by parents, Stavros and Evangeline Strogilos; siblings, Emanuel, Ermioni,  Phillip and John Strogilos.

George was born in Chios, Greece in 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1968. He worked many years in the steel mills. George was a passionate and skilled master gardener, finding joy in cultivating beauty and life in everything he touched. His greatest joy, however, was his family. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, always putting family first. His kindness, wisdom, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 DIRECTLY at SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, IN, with Fr. Theodore Poteres officiating.  George will lie in state from 9:30am until time of service, and will be laid to rest directly after at Calumet Park Cemetery, in Merrillville, IN.  In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of our beloved George can be made to SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Solan Pruzin Funeral Home entrusted with services.
