George "Jurek" Znika, age 76, of Demotte IN passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He is survived by his two sons, John (Jennifer) and Steven (Marina); two precious grandchildren, Viktoria and Lana; one sister in Croatia; several nephews and other extended family; and mother of his children, Ivana Znika. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

George was born in Donja Stubica, Croatia and arrived in the US in 1969.  Shortly after his arrival to the US, he was employed at US Steel and retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed spending time on his property in Hebron. He was a generous man and never hesitated to help others with their projects, he always shared his skillset and craftmanship. George liked to cook and making homemade wine. He was also a fan of watching soccer, basketball, and hockey. George was fond of going to Dairy Queen where he would often indulge on a strawberry sundae with hot fudge. Above all else, he loved and cherished the time he spent with family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at SOLAN-PRUZIN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A Service Celebrating George's Life will be held at 7:30 PM with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. Services conclude at the funeral home. Burial private with Rev.
