A proud Cubs fan through and through, Herbert loved spending his afternoons watching baseball and cheering for the Chicago Sky. He enjoyed taking day trips with the bank, and sharing stories that were often punctuated by his trademark jokes and infectious laughter.
Back in the day, he loved going out for breakfast, always finding joy in teasing and joking with the waitresses. His warm humor and easy-going spirit brought smiles to everyone around him.
Herbert always wanted to be an undertaker. He attended mortuary school and got his apprenticeship certificate. He worked in a funeral home in East Chicago.
