HERMAN BLOCKLAND

age 94, of Hammond, passed away Friday, August 21,2015. Herman is survived by his wife of 70 years Bonnie; children: Judy (Thomas) Bullard, Dale Blockland, David (Maureen) Blockland, Dan (Debbie) Blockland and Dean (Cheryl) Blockland; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sister Wilhemina (late Al) Clarett; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers: Edward, Bert, Fred and Howard Blockland; sister Bertha (Frank) Robinson.

Herman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Rangers in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was member of the Hammond VFW Post 802. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and retired from Welsh Brothers Motors. Herman was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and loved to spend summers at his cottage in Northern Michigan.
