Herman D. Caine, Jr.

Herman D. Caine Jr., age 65, of Hammond, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023. He is survived by his children, Emily (Timothy) Dykstra and Herman E. (Maria) Caine III; grandchildren, Christian, Holly, Sean and Emma Dykstra, and Sylvia Caine; brother, James (Erica) Caine; sister, Marie (John) Tiltges; several aunts and uncles, including Aunt Joyce Toole; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 22 years, Sylvia; parents, Herman and Marie Caine; brothers, John and Benjamin Caine; and niece Krista Caine.

Herman was a longtime area resident. He worked for Lever Brothers and eventually retired from Marriott Hilton in Valparaiso. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was the best big brother.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 7109 Calumet Ave., HAMMOND, IN. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, at 10:00 AM. directly at St. Mary Catholic Church , 802 W. 144 ^th St., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Jan Krutewicz. officiating.
