Irene Wendlinger nee Poczik

age 92 of Hammond, late of Schererville, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. Irene is survived by her children: Maryann (Charles) Markley, Gary (Ramona) Wendlinger and Jim Wendlinger; grandchildren: Chuck (Teresa) Markley, Julie (Jeff) Walker, Laura (Dave) Schlotman, Brian (Jill) Sliger, Beth (Cory) Young, Amanda (Adam) Suarez and Mike (Kelsey) Wendlinger; 10 great grandchildren; brother-in-law George (Dolores) Wendlinger; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Wendlinger and three siblings.

Irene was employed by the School City of Hammond in Food Service for many years. She cherished the time spent with her loving family and enjoyed celebrating the holidays, especially the Christmas Season. Mom loved to cook and feed our family; One of her specialties was her stuffed cabbage. Our dear matriarch will be forever loved and missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. Wake service 2:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 12:00 PM DIRECTLY at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 1 W. Wilhelm St Schererville, IN with Fr. Benjamin Ross officiating. Irene will be laid to rest following mass at St. John St. Joseph Cemetery Hammond. In lieu of flowers a donation in Irene's honor may be made to Unity Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
