Her strength, determination, selflessness, and sense of humor, paired with her unwavering love for her family, were an inspiration to those who knew her.

Jaclyn Eleanor Swanson, age 70, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Jaclyn is survived by her loving daughter and son, Charlotte (Mark) Rongers and Sam (Nicole) Borah; her grandchildren, Roxy, Genevieve, Fionah, and Susanna Rongers, and River, Lorelai, Rowan, Esme, and Archer Borah. She is also survived by her brother, Mark (Janet) Swanson; her sister, Rebecca (Hank) Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lelo "Jack" and Lois Swanson (nee Sterenberg); and her brother, James Swanson.

Jaclyn was a 1974 graduate of Lowpoint-Washburn High School in Washburn, Illinois, and continued her education at Eastern Illinois University. A devoted mother, she dedicated much of her life to providing for and caring for her family, working multiple jobs over the years to ensure her children had everything they needed. After retiring from the workforce, she devoted her time to helping care for Roxy and Gigi. Her strength, determination, selflessness, and sense of humor, paired with her unwavering love for her family, were an inspiration to those who knew her.

Jaclyn was the life of the party at every family gathering, often dreaming up games and activities that brought everyone together in laughter. She had a particular talent for Scrabble, a game she rarely lost. Funny and full of life, she also had a deep love of travel, frequently journeying alongside her brother, always eager for the next adventure. One of 25 first cousins, Jaclyn cherished her extended family, and she was a devoted lifelong friend to many.

Above all, she took tremendous pride and joy in being a grandmother. Caring for and spending time with them was one of the greatest joys in her life, and she and her grandchildren cherished every moment they shared together.

Jaclyn is deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at The Lodge at Rush Lakes, 433 US-20, La Porte, Indiana, with formal service beginning at 12:00 pm, concluding with shared meals and memories.
