JAMES P. DORTON

age 74, of Merrillville, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015. James is survived by his loving partner of 30 years Martha Kacerski and her children Carl (late Laura) Kacerski and James (Trinity) Kacerski; loving grandchildren: James, Brian and Kristen Kacerski; siblings Claudia (late Chris) Mackowiak and Eunice Dorton; nephew Doug Mackowiak; niece Tammy (Casey) Mershon; mother in law Margaret Owens; cats Princess and Sam. Preceded in death by his parents Roy and Dorothy Dorton.

Jim's favorite holiday was Christmas and he played Santa for many years, bringing joy to generations of his family. He was generous man who loved to give gifts to people. He worked as a bartender at Al's Tap in Lynwood for many years and enjoyed car shows, playing cards, poker and was an avid Cubs fan. Above all Jim cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
