James “Jim” Ronald Knapp

Age 83, of Peoria, IL formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026.

Jim is survived by his loving sister Judy (Walter) Zukowski; and several dear nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He is preceded by his beloved mother, Gladys (nee Burton) Knapp.

Jim was a proud graduate of Purdue University in Lafayette, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree from the School of Engineering Sciences. He was known for his sharp mind, curiosity, and lifelong love of learning. An avid reader, Jim also greatly enjoyed skiing, watching and playing golf, and was an enthusiastic stamp collector.

Burial Services will take place at 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Concordia Cemetery, 6551 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN.
