James T. Murphy

age 79, of Schererville, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Murphy and Katherine "Trina" Murphy; granddaughters, Ella and Sara Holland; siblings: George (Madelyn) Murphy, John Murphy, Thomas (Karen) Murphy, Patrick (Holly) Murphy, and Mary (Greg) MacDougall; and many nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Murphy.

James graduated from Chesterton High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Purdue University and his master's degree in chemical engineering from MIT. In 1970, he began working at American Chemical Service in Griffith, IN and stayed there until retirement.
