Jeraldine “Jerry” M. (nee Dolatowski) Scheive
Jeraldine M. Scheive, age 85, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She is survived by her loving children, Marie (Don) Wilson, Joanne (Jimmy) Wright, Henry (Mary Jo) Scheive and Roy Scheive; precious grandchildren, Tyler Scheive, Shelli (Eric) Pinkie and Jenelle (Richard) Orelup; precious great grandchildren, Andrew Christman, Khaleesi Orelup, Averie Mixon, Austin Mixon, and Faith Corie, all whom lovingly knew her as “Grandma” or “Nana,” the special names that meant the world to her. She was also dearly loved by her loving sister, Janice Spinks; many dear nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald “Ron” Scheive, of 59 years; parents, Henry and Martha (Margie) Dolatowski, sister, Carol Zencka; and loving grand daughter, Christina Bonhama-Childress.
Beyond her devotion as a wife, parent and grandparent, Jerry was a certified ceramic teacher and owned her own ceramic business. She later worked as a medical records secretary at St. Margaret Mercy Dyer Campus. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Lector, Baptismal Preparation Class Teacher, Catechist, Vocational Bible School Teacher and Money Counter at St. John Bosco Parish. Jerry always had her special time every Wednesday, to have her hair styled. She was also an avid gardener, and loved her precious pet, Marshmallow.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026 DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN with Fr. Jeffrey Burton officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Services conclude at church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Bosco Church.
Jerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
